AVALON, Calif. — October 31, 2026. The City of Avalon has scheduled a free household hazardous waste and bulky-item drop-off event for Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The city says the collection will take place at City Hall, 410 Avalon Canyon Road, with entry from Avalon Canyon Road. Avalon Environmental Services is working with the city on the event, which is intended to offer residents a way to dispose of items unsuitable for ordinary trash.
What the city says it will accept
The official October 26 notice lists household chemicals and paint, batteries, pesticides, electronic waste such as TVs and monitors, large items including mattresses and furniture, appliances, tires, used motor oil and filters, and sharps placed in appropriate protective containers.
People should not leave materials outside the site before the event or place hazardous substances in normal recycling bins. The city’s general event list does not establish quantities, identification requirements or handling rules for every substance.
Check restrictions before making a trip
Especially for hazardous materials, residents should verify container requirements and accepted quantities with staff. Call 310-510-0220 for additional instructions.
The event is November 21; the city’s calendar page also shows a longer publishing/display date range, which should not be mistaken for a month-long drop-off service.
